Reading through the Bible together
The LORD reigneth!
What a trust-worthy thought! The LORD rules over the vast universe. He upholds the world and makes it run. He reaches also to the maintenance and healing of all of us human beings, including my body and all the small cells of myself as well. Praise the LORD!
In this Psalm He is pictured as one who especially conquers and rules over the big waters. It reminds us of the Exodus how he split the great flow of the Red sea for His people to pass through. Water in the Bible often represents many people (Rev 17:15), which make up the nations of the world (Dan 7:1-8, 23), and the troubles caused by them. But we remember that Jesus walked on the water (Mt 14:22-33) and subdued the waves and the storm (Mk 4:35-41). He conquered and overcame the world (Jn 16:33).
The power of God is His character. His majesty, power, magnificence, and strength come from His faithfulness and holiness (vs. 5). We have such a bright prospect as creatures that we will eternally enjoy the privilege of praising Him. We will laud the truthfulness and holiness of our Redeemer on the heavenly seashore throughout all the days of eternity.
The LORD reigneth! Amen and Amen.
