You must know at least one family who seems to have it all together.  And when I say “have it all” I don’t mean they have material things.  In fact, the kind of family I have in mind may have very little in the way of material things, but they are spiritually complete in Christ. They have peace.  They radiate joy.  They bask in contentment.  They are the ones I think are meant to have lots of children because mother and father just seem to be blessed with an extra dose of divine wisdom for parenting.

This is a Psalm to celebrate the family.   Can a family like the one I described actually exist?  Yes, but a family like this cannot exist without their family’s spiritual leader walking under God’s authority.
In a culture saturated with the “prosperity gospel” where we mistakenly interpret our financial increase as a measure of God’s blessing, I find it refreshing to have the Psalmist remind families of the true meaning of blessing and prosperity . . . a family who fears the Lord and follows His ways.  A family united, walking out their calling in Christ.   They are truly blessed.
