After a miraculous provision in Kadesh and victory over a minor kingdom that attacked them, Israel quickly turned back to complaining about God when water and food became unavailable while they were detouring around Edom.  This time God didn’t take their problem away.  Instead of immediately taking care of their need, He showed them that it was by looking to His salvation that they would be preserved.  Today the message is the same: look to Jesus and live.

What is your response to challenges in life?  Do you complain about the people who are trying to help you?  Do you complain that God isn’t leading you? Our response to life’s challenges should be like Psalm 46: 1-3: "God is our refuge and strength.  A very present help in touble.  Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling."  We know God has led us in the past; sometimes we don’t understand why the present difficulties are happening, and we ask Him to lead us to victory.
