There is power is mobilizing others to join us in carrying out God’s will than for us to work alone.  Nehemiah mobilized others to help him carry out God’s vision.  Eliashib the high priest build the sheep gate; the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate; Jehoiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired the Old Gate, and the list goes on.  With many engaged in God’s work, there was much progress made.

Throughout God raises leaders and puts a vision on them, but those leaders have to engage others in doing God’s will.  Moses appointed others to help him and so did Jesus train the twelve to work with Him.

It interesting to note that Nehemiah who just came into town was the one who called for and began the work of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, while those who were living there did not initiate it.  Sometimes it takes those who are outside of a situation to see clearer what needs to be done.  Those inside may get used to the situation as it may be and do little or nothing.
