Although the children of Israel did not consult with God before entering into a covenant with the citizens of Gibeon, God still used that poorly-conceived decision to bring about greater victories in the future. Standing in alliance with Gibeon led to the defeat of several other city- nations.

In our lives we often make unwise choices that ultimately result in good outcomes. But such outcomes were not due to some inherent wisdom that we possess; rather, God rules over all, turning our foolishness into results that glorify His Name. It may be a relationship entered into without prayer, or an accepted job that was not within God’s will. It doesn’t matter; for in spite of the challenges that were not a part of God’s original plan, He still guarantees that He gains the glory that rightfully belongs to Him.
