A small collection of books on how to witness effectively are on my bookshelf.  Experienced Christians have managed to summarize the science of sharing Jesus on just a few pages.  But if I had to write a book about sharing, I might do a better job at explaining the science of sharing sin, which we all do as humans.  That is a frightening thought.

As long as sin has been around, sinners have loved to teach others how to join them in evil pleasures.  This is why God destroyed the world with the Flood: “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time” (Gen. 6:5 NIV).  Hundreds of years later, Solomon said that one of the seven things the Lord hates is “a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil” (Prov. 6:18 NIV).

Years of sinning can give a person an understanding of how to lead another person down the wrong path.  But what waste of time and energy!  When I started earnestly seeking God at the age of 33, I looked back with horror on a wasted life.  Jesus was here for 33 years and saved the world.  In my foolishness I accomplished nothing for the Lord during those years of mine.

God sees this foolishness in many of us and says: “For my people are foolish, they have not known Me.  They are silly children, and they have no understanding.  They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge” (Jer. 4:22 NKJV).

Prayer: “Dear God, I am a teacher whether I want to be or not.  People learn from my words and actions.  Please teach me how to be a teacher for You.  Allow others to see Your words and Your actions in my life and be drawn through them to You. Amen.”
