My wife Bodil and I love to sing Scripture songs as a way to hide God’s Word in our hearts.  This chapter contains one of our favorite Bible promises: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jer. 33:3, NKJV).  Bodil composed a Scripture song based on this verse and combined it with the testimony of the prophet Jeremiah recorded in the previous chapter: “Ah, LORD God, behold You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm.  There is nothing too hard for you” (Jer. 32:17, NKJV).

Whatever challenge or opportunity you are facing today, take God at His Word.  “Call to Me,” He says.  This invitation reminds me of the words of Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount:  “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matt. 7:7, NKJV).

As a child, I imagined that I was supposed to ask for “things” I wanted.  Now I realize that the greatest gifts the Father longs to give are wisdom to know how to live and the enabling presence of His Holy Spirit. Give Him the opportunity today to lead you and empower you in the way that you should go.  And remember, there is nothing too hard for God.

“Lord, thank You for Your amazing promise, not only to Jeremiah, but also to me.  I rejoice today that I can call to You at any time, in any place, and there is nothing too hard for you.  Amen.”
