God has taught his sons and daughters to live in a wise way, taking advantage of the opportunities that life has given them.

Many seek sense of life through fame and wealth, thinking that they will be able to have them forever, and forgetting that things are not eternal, they only last for a moment, the same way the perfume and its fragrance are gone soon after they are used. (v.1)

The one who really knows how to use the wisdom given by God tries to reflect, through pain or tears (v.4), the sense of life. Adversity reminds us that life is short and that we need to live wisely to improve our characters. We learn more about God in the troubled times than in the happy times.

Wisdom is able to finish what we have started (v. 8), and this demands work, patience and self-discipline. God’s work will be finished with the full restoration of men and women when our Lord Jesus returns.

We need to be careful not to think that we already know everything we need to know (Rev.3:17). As the wise man said, “I will be wise; but it is far from me” (v. 23). To seek wisdom we need to seek heavenly knowledge also.

The wise man says there is something worse than death, it is a deceiving wife. But he who tries to be good, who listens to the Lord and follows His words will not fall, but will be saved.

God gives us advice through his word so we can have a balanced and better life (v. 16).
Following those words and respecting God (v. 18), we will are getting ready to live eternally in His presence.

“Father, I want to be good and live a balanced and better life, but I need your help to do it.  Please help me.”  Amen.
