Hezekiah’s previous years of relationship with God helped him to realize that he still needed God in the challenges he faced.  He “tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the Temple of the Lord” (verse 19).  His prayer was long and hard, and it was heard by the Lord!

We sometimes lose hope when we are away from God especially if we are running in the other direction.  God, however, never leaves us, and He keeps waiting for us to turn back to Him.

Hezekiah’s problem was easily solved, “That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp” (verse 35).  There is nothing too difficult for God, all the silver and gold offered by Hezekiah could not stop the Assyrian army, God took care of it in one night.

God does not force us to follow Him, and we have to make a conscious choice to be under his care.  When we do choose Him, we will realize that His way is infinite better than ours.
