Jehu’s reform resulted in punishment for Ahab’s sin and elimination of servants of Baal.  How I wish his reformation would have lasted and the people of Israel had turned around to follow God.

Unfortunately Jehu “did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit—the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan” (verse 29).  The result of Jehu’s effort was lost and once again people went into idol worship.

Why is it so hard for us to stay on the right track?  Paul says, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Rom 7:24-25).  We are weak and prone to temptation, and if anyone thinks that he is smart enough to stand against the attack from the darkness, he is absolutely wrong.

Nobody on this earth has the long experience as the devil, and with thousands of years of temptation technique under his belt, he is the most conning criminal ever lived.  Without divine help, we do not stand a chance with Satan.  The good news is that we do not have to face him alone. The One who is much greater than the devil is on our side, but we must choose to stand with Him.

If you are thinking for an excuse to give in, don’t!  Cry to God for help and He will rush to your side to protect you!
