After the six troubled years of Athalia's wicked reign, the rightful ruler was going to be instated. In planning out the coronation which was to take place in the temple, Jehoiada gave very clear instructions: "And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out."

We have two choices regarding who will rule over our hearts; who will reign in us as the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16). We can choose the wicked rule of sin, or the rule of the rightful King, the Son of David, Jesus Christ. When we turn over our hearts to Christ, the instructions are plain: nothing opposed to Him is to be permitted into the range where He rules. We are to take in hand the "sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God", and "casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (Ephesians 6:17; 2 Corinthians 10:5).

What are the ranges that God has put under our watch care? What has He commanded us to take His sword in hand and defend? What has He commissioned us to do?
